DESCRIPTION

This is Bob Griese's final Topps base card#482 from the iconic 1981 Topps Football set, graded PSA 9 (Mint). A shoulder injury ended Griese's career in 1980, and when he announced his retirement on June 25, 1981, his last base card was locked into the 1981 Topps set. That makes this not just a vintage collectible — it's a true career-closing card for one of the NFL's greatest quarterbacks.

As veteran set builder Roger Rumsey put it, "You've got the last cards of Bob Griese, Joe Greene and Alan Page" — and that strong combination of legends has helped make the 1981 Topps Football set one of the most desirable of its decade. The Joe Montana rookie (#216) anchors the set, but three other Hall of Famers — Kellen Winslow, Art Monk, and Dan Hampton — also debut in this 528-card issue.

  • Card: 1981 Topps #482 Bob Griese, Miami Dolphins
  • Grade: PSA 9 (Mint) — sharp corners, strong centering, clean surfaces
  • Significance: Recognized as Griese's last card in career
  • Player: Griese and Don Shula led the Dolphins to back-to-back Super Bowl victories (VII and VIII); Griese played his entire career with Miami from 1967–1980.
  • HOF: Bob Griese was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990.

Condition issues across the set, combined with its deep roster of rookies and Hall of Famers, make this 1981 issue an increasingly desirable set in high grade — ranked by top collectors as the second-best football set of the 1980s. A PSA 9 example of Griese's swan-song card belongs in any serious vintage football or Miami Dolphins collection.
